Excellence in Patient Care Reid Podiatry - Bev Anderson, Desiree Cumberbatch and Aimee Moore
This nomination celebrates the outstanding teamwork of Bev Anderson, Desiree Cumberbatch, and Aimee Moore, whose rapid and coordinated efforts saved a patient from potential limb loss. Their collective actions exemplify excellence in patient care, transforming a critical situation into a life-changing positive outcome.
The Story:
On Wednesday, May 30, 2025, Bev Anderson, our receptionist, received an urgent call from a new patient in extreme pain with a severely inflamed and cyanosed toe, despite previous A&E visits and antibiotics. Recognizing the emergency, especially with a bank holiday approaching, Bev immediately consulted with management and Podiatrist Desiree Cumberbatch. They swiftly arranged an emergency same-day appointment.
During the assessment, Desiree identified severe peripheral circulatory compromise. Following an initial investigation, and a crucial after-hours discussion, Desiree and the nominator agreed the pain was indicative of circulatory shutdown, requiring immediate specialist referral.
On Friday, May 1, as the patient’s pain continued, Desiree Cumberbatch and Podiatrist Aimee Moore collaborated for a second opinion. They confirmed the dire need for urgent vascular assessment, empowering the patient with clear instructions and referral letters for immediate action. Despite initial hurdles at other facilities, the patient, guided by the team’s persistence, reached Derby Hospital where a blockage in her right groin was discovered. She is now awaiting surgery.
A follow-up call confirmed the patient’s immense gratitude for the team’s swift and effective intervention.
Why They Deserve This Award:
This team demonstrated incredible synergy:
- Bev’s immediate recognition and proactive scheduling.
- Desiree’s astute clinical assessment and decisive after-hours action.
- Aimee’s crucial second opinion and collaborative patient empowerment.
Together, they went above and beyond, navigating obstacles to ensure this patient received timely, limb-saving care. Their seamless collaboration, clinical expertise, and unwavering patient advocacy truly embody “Excellence in Patient Care.”
best product award - MLS Laser by Celtic SMR
Examples of Feedback from Customers:-
I have been using the msl laser for 4 yrs and have found it a great addition to our clinic, mostly from an MSK position. Though we are more recently applying it to heal post operative wounds / scars and are seeing very promising results.
MLS laser has been an excellent provider of laser therapy for many years. They have been so helpful in all aspects of the process from the initial trial, through multiple training online & in person and since Kirsten has been onboard the marketing has been brilliant. The application of the laser to deliver in clinic to patients is pain free, easy to administer and very effective for tissue healing and pain reduction. We wouldn’t be without our MLS M-Hi laser now, it’s just that good.
